Ian Thomas's Role Expands With Martez Loss

The Fighting Illini football team is athletic but highly inexperienced at the linebacker positions. And it got even more inexperienced today with the announcement that middle linebacker Martez Wilson is lost for the season due to a herniated disc in his neck. A great burden now falls on Ian Thomas to lead the linebackers going into a rugged Big 10 schedule.

Through the first two games, redshirt sophomore linebacker Ian Thomas was the leading tackler for the Illinois football team with 17.
