The Fighting Illini sold more than 13,500 new season tickets last season. This
marked the largest increase in football season tickets in Illinois history.
"The atmosphere at Memorial Stadium was a huge part of our success last year,"
Illinois head football coach Ron Zook said. "I can't say enough about how the
Illini Nation embraced this team. It is our goal both to continue to put a
product on the field that will make Illini fans proud, and become one of the
toughest stadiums for visitors in the Big Ten."
"We anticipate that the momentum of the 2007 winning season and Rose Bowl
appearance, will lead to another increase in Fighting Illini football season
ticket sales," said Chris Hanna, Assistant Athletic Director for Sales and
Marketing. "This will push Memorial Stadium closer to the sellout status that
makes men's basketball games such a tough ticket in the Assembly Hall."
Illinois decided on $77 "Red Zone" season ticket prices for the Horseshoe
section in honor of Harold "Red" Grange, a former Fighting Illini back that
ranks among the greatest players in college football history. Timing the "Red
Zone" pricing with the completed Renaissance project was very important to the
DIA as it preserves the history of Memorial Stadium and ensures the football
program's successful future while continuing to offer fans an affordable season
ticket option.
Fans who purchased Horseshoe season tickets in 2007 will be offered an
opportunity to renew their season tickets in March. A very high renewal rate is
anticipated. The Illinois student ticket number will be capped at 10,000 for
each Illinois home game, with most of those tickets expected to be sold on a
season basis.
Single-game tickets to most games are $45 on the sidelines and $25 in the
horseshoe and student sections (if available). All sideline and horseshoe
tickets for the Ohio State game will be $60.
Season tickets will be available for purchase at fightingillini.com and by
calling 1-866-ILLINI-1. Single-game tickets will not be available until late in
the summer so season ticket buyers can claim the best seats.
The 2008 home schedule includes six games: Sept. 6, Eastern Illinois; Sept. 13,
Louisiana-Lafayette; Oct. 11, Minnesota (Homecoming); Oct. 18, Indiana
(Foundation Day); Nov. 1, Iowa (Dad's Day); Nov. 15, Ohio State.
