Alex Legion decided to leave the Kentucky basketball program with two schools on his new shopping list, Illinois and Notre Dame. Legion visited both schools and Bruce Weber’s Illini came away the winner.

Reports from Fox Sports last night is Alex Legion has made a commitment to the University of Illinois to play for Weber. From that same report Legion stated he just felt more comfortable at Illinois.

Last week here at InsideIllini.com we spoke with the grandfather of Legion and he said, “I think the Illinois fans will be very happy real soon that’s all I can say right now.” Coming out of high school Legion was a four-star recruit and received offers from Connecticut, Kansas, Michigan, Kentucky and UCLA.

Legion is a 6-4 shooting guard something Illinois needs desperately on their roster. We tried to contact Legion tonight but wasn’t successful, we hope to have an in-depth interview with him later today.

This is what Scout.com had to say about Legion: Bouncy wing player will bury shots from the elbows. Loves the mid-range step back and he's excellent at it. Smart player and excels in the classroom. Athletically he's very gifted and is a high flier.
