D.J. Richardson Talks Recruiting

D.J. Richardson

D.J. Richardson has been dealing with phone calls, text messages and letters in the mail since his freshman year in high school. However, Richardson understands it's all a part of being an athlete who is wanted by some of the nation's top DI schools. Get inside for a Q and A with Richardson.

Kedric:
So, how's the recruiting process going for you, D.J?

D.J.:
It's kind of tough. I mean, I know people have jobs to do, but sometimes I do get tired of it a little. I understand the entire process, but once I make my decision it will slow down.

Kedric:
Tracy Webster is no longer a part of the Illinois staff and Coach Weber hired Jerrance Howard. What's your opinion on that?

D.J.:
I think it's great. Jerrance is a great guy and I like the fact that he's from Peoria. He is a great fit for Illinois.

Kedric:
Will you add more schools to your list or will the list you have given be it for you?

D.J.:
Yes, I have a list and not too many other schools have been trying to talk to me or recruit me.

Kedric:
D.J., when can the fans expect a commitment from you - to whatever school you decide on?

D.J.:
I would really like to make it sometime after my junior season. By then I will have a better idea of how things are going at all the schools that are recruiting me.

Kedric:
What are you going to be doing in the off-season to improve your game?

D.J.:
A lot of conditioning, for sure. I lift a lot of weights and we have open gym so we can play, but I like to go to the health center here because a lot of the older guys are there who make me better. They're a lot stronger and when they see things I should be doing they tell me. D. J. hasn't been to Champaign in sometime now. He stated he will be back there again for another visit, though he is not sure when that visit will happen.
