It's safe to say when Illini Nation heard and it was confirmed that Chicago native Chris Colvin made a visit to Champaign it brought grins to their faces. Then icing was added to the cake when Head Coach Bruce Weber put an offer on the table. "Illinois was a great trip. Chris did get an offer from Illinois, but we're just weighing our options right now. No decisions will be made just yet," said Colvin.
Weber has done a great job of getting players on campus; now it's just closing the deal. Colvin is another great guard who has benefited from a great summer. "We're not really surprised at the offers he's getting. Chris has worked very hard to get where he's at. Other schools that put offers on the table along with Illinois are Iowa, Miami Ohio and Northern Illinois."
"With Iowa being the other Big Ten School to offer, we haven't visited them yet. We are not sure when we will visit Illinois again either. We're just going to wait and see how his schedule pans out," said Colvin.
Illini assistant Coach Tracy Webster is the recruiting coordinator for Colvin. "Tracy's a hell of a guy. He's very persistent and very sincere when it comes to kids and his job. He loves kids and the well-being of our kids in general," Colvin stated.
The Illini are setting up dates for players to make unofficial visits. As we find out we'll let you know who is on campus and the weekends they plan to be there.
Chris is a member of the Class of 2009 he's listed at 6-3 and 175 lbs.
