CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — University of Illinois head football coach Ron Zook will kick off a new era on Tuesday afternoon with the beginning of the 2005 spring practice session. The first workout will take place at 4 p.m.

“I am really looking forward to seeing our guys in action this week,” Zook said. “The coaches have been preparing the installation of the schemes and both the players and the staff are excited to see how the team takes to the new information. So far I have seen great enthusiasm from the team in workouts and expect the same this week.”

For the first two sessions this week, the Illini will be in shorts with the first full-padded contact work coming at the Saturday, April 2 practice. The Illini will also see a large contingent of high school coaches at Thursday and Saturday’s practices with the annual IHSFCA clinic in town from March 31-April 2.
