Adjusted Big Ten Standings

Posted Jan 9, 2005

One of the most interesting things to watch in the Big Ten standings is the number of road wins versus home losses that the eventual Big Ten Champion records. Brumby decided to track these numbers as the conference season carries on, and this is the first report after two games for almost every team in the Big Ten (Minnesota and Michigan have each only played one game).

After two games for most conference teams, IlliniBoard.com has the expanded Big Ten standings with the win / loss differential based on +1 for a road win, 0 for a home win, and -1 for a road loss.

  CONFERENCE OVERALL
  W L GB +/- W L
Illinois 2 0 - +1 (@ Purdue) 16 0
Michigan State 2 0 - +1 (@ Penn State) 10 2
Minnesota 1 0 ½ - 11 3
Michigan 1 0 ½ +1 (@ Iowa) 10 5
Ohio State 1 1 1 - 12 3
Wisconsin 1 1 1 +1 (@Purdue) 10 3
Northwestern 1 1 1 - 8 6
Indiana 1 1 1 - 6 7
Iowa 0 2 2 -1 (vs. Michigan) 12 3
Penn State 0 2 2 -1 (vs. Michigan State) 6 9
Purdue 0 2 2 -2 (vs. Wisconsin & vs. Illinois) 4 8
