Chris Pool,

One of the top athletes in the state of Illinois, Justin Anderson, visited Northern Illinois last weekend. Anderson talks about that visit and what his plans are for the near future. There is a school that’s leading the pack right now.

Northern Illinois is my leader,” said Justin Anderson.

“My visit last weekend went very well. Northern Illinois is a good school and I liked the chemistry the players had with each other.

“I like the coaches at Northern and I could see myself possibly getting to play early.”

Anderson, a 6-foot, 205-pounder from Chicago (Steinmetz Academy) had 1,000 yards rushing, 400 yards passing and he scored 20 touchdowns in 2004.

Anderson was also named all-city by the Chicago Sun-Times. He could play several positions at the next level and he’s being recruited as an athlete.

“I don’t have a preference where I play,” Anderson said. “Wide receiver, safety, cornerback, it doesn’t matter. I just want to get on the field.

“I have offers from Illinois, Northern Illinois and Ball State. I’m also looking at Indiana.”

Has Anderson heard from new Illinois coach Ron Zook, or anyone from his staff?

“Not yet. I’m hoping to hear something soon. I hope that I get a chance to meet coach Zook and come down to Illinois for a visit.”

Anderson doesn’t have any official visits set for the next two weekends. We’ll keep you posted on further developments.
