Since it is never easy to keep up with the performance and news surrounding former Illinois players in the NBA while you are also watching your favorite NBA and college teams while also keeping up on your fantasy team's performance, IlliniBoard.com thought we would recap the relevant news surrounding the former Illinois players in the NBA over the past week.

FRANK WILLIAMS - NEW YORK KNICKS
The recent Knicks trades have left Frank Williams to back up duty on the New York Knick bench behind starting point guard Stephon Marbury. Frank was just promoted to the back up point guard ahead of the recently acquired Moochie Norris. In the Knicks' Saturday loss to the Heat, Frank saw the most time he had seen on the court since the Stephon Marbury trade as he played 22 minutes, scoring 4 points and handing out 3 assists.

Trade rumors are still swirling around with Frank Williams name in them as Isiah Thomas continues to look to mold the Knicks in the image he wants the team to play, more athletic. The term more athletic is thought to be a code word for removing Keith Van Horn from the Knick roster and getting a quicker player at the power forward position. If the Knicks are going to swing another trade, they will have to use their only bargaining chips available in Frank Williams and their first round draft pick this past year Mike Sweetney to sweeten the pot in any Van Horn trade.

BRIAN COOK - LOS ANGELES LAKERS
After starting to get more and more time in the Laker rotation due to various injuries on the team, and an improved confidence in him by head coach Phil Jackson, Brian Cook broke his finger on Friday. Brian is expected to miss four to six weeks of action for the Lakers, and it comes at a time when the Lakers need every healthy body they can have on the court. Brian seems to be snake bitten this season with injuries, especially considering he went through four full years at Illinois without ever missing a game due to injury.
