Illinois Offers 2016 In-state Big

Sophomore Nick Rakocevic picked up an offer from the Illini on Tuesday.

Westchester (IL) St. Joe's center Nick Rakocevic may only be a sophomore, but he's already vying for the top spot in Illinois in the 2016 class. At 6'9" tall already, Rakocevic has the skill to be effective in both the inside and mid-range game.

An excellent rebounder, he already has an array of post moves, and once he adds strength, he will be a tough one to handle.

The offer came right from the top, as Illinois head coach John Groce was the one to inform Rakocevic of the news.

"Coach Groce said he wanted to talk, so I gave him a call," he said. "He told me how he loves my game and how I would be a good fit. That's when he offered me."

Rakocevic continued, "I was really happy about the opportunity to play in my city and state."

The offer from Illinois joins offers from Creighton, NIU, and Miami.

Rakocevic recently visited Illinois for their game against Ohio State. Now with the offer in hand, Rakocevic hopes to make a return trip to Champaign.

"I'm planning to get back down there soon hopefully," he said. "If not soon then definitely in the summer."

Stay tuned for more from Rakocevic soon. In the meantime, here are some highlights from this season of the latest hooper to pick up an Illinois offer. Recommended Stories
