From Illinois to Indy

Illinois G/OT Hugh Thornton got the call Friday night with the news that he'll be heading down I-74 to Indianapolis to suit up for the Colts.

Former Illinois offensive lineman Hugh Thornton, who played both guard and tackle at Illinois, was drafted in the third round (86th overall) to the Indianapolis Colts Friday Night.

Thornton, who played all four years at Illinois, had ups and downs throughout his college career, but always flashed NFL potential, and the Colts bought into him with a third round pick to block for star QB Andrew Luck.

Thornton joins another former Illini in Indianapolis in cornerback Vontae Davis.

IlliniPlaybook will have more from Thornton later. Recommended Stories
