Hoops Showdown: St. Joe's v. Aurora West

The last time St. Joe's and Aurora West met, it was in the 3rd place game of the 1984 Class AA state title game. Now they meet again in the nightcap of the HS Hoops Showdown.

Two of the most storied coaches in Illinois High School Basketball history are Gene Pingatore of St. Joseph's in Westchester and Gordie Kerkman of Aurora West.

St. Joe's features senior center AJ Patty as well as a slew of young talent such as Glynn Watson, Jordan Ash, and Joffrey Brown.

St. Joe's comes in just a game above .500 at 8-7, but the Chargers can put together a great effort any given night. Their downfall is their youth.

The core of their talent is in the underclassmen, so many of them are still adjusting to varsity basketball.

Aurora West, on the other hand, is well above the .500 mark. Led by junior PG Jontrel Walker, the Blackhawks will look to keep their hot season going with a win over the talented St. Joe's squad in the final game of the triple-header.

The game between St. Joe's and Aurora West tips at 8:30 PM at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates.
