Mansfield WR Marchie Murdock an Illini after his official visit to Illinois this weekend.

Mansfield, Texas WR Marchie Murdock has committed to Illinois following his official visit this weekend.

Murdock helps fill an important position of need for Illinois at the receiver position.

Being from Texas, Illinois was unfamiliar territory for Murdock, but the visit convinced him that Illinois was the right place for him in the long run.

"I came in just wanting to see what it was like, and it exceeded my expectations," he said. "So I talked to my family when I came home, and then I committed."

Murdock liked a lot about the opportunities at Illinois, but a couple things in particular stood out.

"They're saying I could play as a freshman," he said. "That and the family atmosphere were great."
