Throwback Thursday: Stephen Bardo

Posted Sep 18, 2012

Welcome to Throwback Thursdays, where we take a look back in Illinois Athletic history. This week, we caught up with former Flyin' Illini Stephen Bardo.

The University of Illinois is an institution rich in athletic tradition. A renewed emphasis has been placed on the relationship between the university and its former athletes, and a large number of them have been making their way back to their alma mater in Champaign to reunite with old teammates, friends, and classmates.

In the same way that many of them are able to reminisce on their time at Illinois, we will also be catching up with many of these former Illini in our new "Throwback Thursdays" series.

This week's feature is Stephen Bardo, a guard from the famed "Flyin' Illini" Squad of 1989. Nowadays, Bardo is most commonly recognized as a college basketball analyst and game announcer for ESPN, but back in his time at Illinois, he and his teammates were able to accomplish something special.

We hope you enjoy these looks back into the vault of Illinois history through the eyes of the people who helped author it.
