"I'm very excited about that. I think it's a very good blessing for me."
It was his first offer. Will that make a difference in his recruitment?
"It's not too significant, but I'm blessed to have the offer."
Morgan will collect a bunch of offers before he makes a college decision. He says state loyalty means little to him.
"Actually, I'm from Gary, Indiana. I'm just taking it one day at a time."
The 6'-2", 220 pounder competed in the Nike Football Training Camp Sunday in Memorial Stadium. He was pleased with his performance.
"The camp went really great. I learned how to cover better and break on the ball a little bit better. And I learned to be more reactionary."
A fluid, athletic prospect, Morgan has assets that make him a top linebacker prospect.
"I'm very instinctive. I just know where the ball is, where I'm supposed to be at, how to make a tackle and how to play."
He is using summer camps to perfect his game.
"I want to work more on my past coverage. That's why I'm doing these 7-on-7's during these weeks, to work on my past coverage a little bit more."
Whatever college he attends will need to be strong both with academics and football.
"Academics is important; I'm considering Civil Engineering. And so is winning; I don't like losing."
Crete-Monee has been blessed with a great deal of athleticism recently. Defensive back Anthony Standifer will attend Mississippi this fall. Star wide receiver Laquon Treadwell is an upcoming senior, with Morgan following by a year. Is there something in the water to bring out so much more talent recently?
"It's just guys growing up in the area. The people who are playing have been there since Little League. So we all just work together playing football. We are in a good cycle right now.
"We were undefeated until the second round of the playoffs last year. We lost to Peoria Richwoods. We weren't embarrassed by them, but we still wanted to beat them."
The Warriors expect to be even better in 2012. Morgan lists several strong teammates in addition to Treadwell.
"We have our quarterback coming back, we have a junior running back coming back, and I believe we have all the linebackers coming back. So I've got to introduce them. Actually, most of our whole defense is coming back."
