Rhodes Happy To Be In New Signing Class

While most high school football stars sign scholarship tenders on National Signing Day, a few are asked to delay college enrollment for a semester and become known as "greyshirts." It isn't easy to sit out, and it is especially tough when the coaching staff recruiting you is fired before you enroll. But Daniel Rhodes stuck with his original decision to attend Illinois.

Daniel Rhodes was recruited to play fullback/tight end by former Illinois head coach Ron Zook and his staff. He graduated high school in 2011, but the UI staff asked him to forego entrance into college one semester so his scholarship would count against the 2012 class rather than the 2011 class.
