St. Rita's Vic Law Shows Promise For 2014

Vic Law (Jack Lyman)

The class of 2014 is loaded with wings who can put the ball in the hoop. St. Rita's Vic Law is one of those prospects. He played well as a freshman and is continuing to put up numbers this spring with the Mac Irvin Fire.

Vic Law is a 6'-6" small forward from St. Rita High School. He has a good combination of size and scoring ability from the wing position. Law is one of the top prospects in the state of Illinois in 2014.

Illinois coaches are aware of Law, along with 2014 teammate Dominique Matthews. They monitored Law's progress during his freshman campaign.

"They have been to a lot of St. Rita games and practices over the last year. They haven't really talked to me yet but have been sending me letters."

Law discussed what he likes about the program.

"It is close to home, and they are real good academically. Academics is a big part for me."

There is also a family tie to Illinois.

"My sister went there, so I am familiar with the campus."

He is a fan of the way the Illini play.

"It is more of an up and down style of play, and they do a lot of banging."

Three schools have shown early interest in him.

"Illinois, Nebraska, and Oregon State."

Last season, he averaged 6 points and 10 rebounds per game for St. Rita. Don't let the low scoring numbers fool you though, this kid can score!

He is a long and lanky forward who can attack his man off the bounce or shoot from the perimeter. His ability to score inside and out makes him intriguing for colleges. The best attribute of his game is his jump shot. He rises quickly off the floor and is consistent with it.

Law talked about his strengths as a basketball player.

"Shooting and posting up. I am versatile, so I do anything to win."

He plays for the Mac Irvin Fire 15 and Under AAU squad. What is he looking to gain playing with the Fire this spring and summer?

"I want to make a name for myself and win games."

Law projects as a top 10 prospect in the state of Illinois in the class of 2014, and high majors will continue to show interest.
